Sunshine Coast

We had a great weekend on the Sunshine Coast with three back to back screenings in Powell River, Gibsons (Yay Green Film Series), and at the Sea to Sky Outdoor School.

In Powell River (which was truly a charming town), we got a personal tour of the fabulous Patricia Theatre from Ann (operating since the 1920's) and were hosted by the equally fabulous and community minded Karen from Pebble in the Pond, The Cranberry Hall Society, the local radio station, etc, etc (she's a busy lady).

Our Gibsons screening atracted none other than the Mayor, and once again we got to swap stories with some amazing folks. Thanks to Karen, Michelle, Ann, Billie, Beverly, Tim, Ann, Buddy, and Barb.

Fall Screenings

After a fun summer of family trips and relaxation (including trips to RIdge Meadows Recycling Depot and Gibsons Recycling Depot), we're happy to announce that it will be a busy fall for The Clean Bin Project! We have community screenings from Gibsons, BC all the way to Inuvik, NT! (no, we won't be attending all of them in person).

Grant and I will be hitting a few high schools to share our 50 minute student cut with the next generation of zero wasters, hopefully inspiring them to set up a few challenges of their own.

We're also happy to be a part of some great film festivals including:

• Reel Change Film Festival  in Kamloops, BC.
• FilmShift Festival  in Somerville, MA.
• Bend Film Festival in Bend, OR.
• Planet in Focus Film Festival  in Toronto, ON.

Clean Bin Project wins Best Canadian Doc at Projecting Change

We are thrilled to share that we were awarded Best Canadian Documentary at the Projecting Change Film Festival! That's me accepting the award with co-founders Lindsay and Brady and the festival Executive Director Colette (thanks for the photo which I snagged from the Projecting Change facebook page -see more photos here).

We saw so many great films and got to meet some other filmmakers that I hope we'll keep in touch with. Grant rocked his white pants at the closing night party - his band performed for the evening, and we got some really great feedback both on our film and on the event as a whole. It's such a great feeling to be part of a festival in your own home town, especially one that is so well coordinated and engages the public in such an enthousiastic way.
